Huge job, this. And because I adore books so much, one of my favourites to be involved with. Working from editors notes, book jackets, prefaces and/or forwards – sometimes before the books were even published – somebody had to write compelling copy so that book shop owners knew what they were ordering. Plus, working with a designer, someone needed to think carefully about how to present the information cleanly, persuasively and yet with a forensic attention to detail. With ISBN numbers etc. there can be no mistakes. Then there was the trip to HarperCollins HQ to dig through their vaults and prise open all the information they themselves couldn’t put their hands to in time. Lastly, someone had to get the whole lot past the client at HarperCollins, as well as the agency’s creative director. A job that took weeks from start to finish because of the sheer practicalities of organising and presenting this much information. But hey, somebody had to do it…
